My research interests address an eclectic mix of topics related to health, sex, gender, and intimacy. My primary project explores the medical apparatus’ role in shaping the way people understand and experience their own bodies, as seen in the Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) community. Currently, I also support research examining how emotion work and intimate justice appear in bisexual women’s sex lives and a project surveying literature about childfree by choice individuals.
Secondary interests probe at the intersection between my academic and bookish life. I’m involved with research into the Tradwife influencer community and am undertaking an independent project into the sexual politics of a subgenre of popular romance fiction called “monster romance.”
Of particular interest: qualitative methods of research and analysis, critical feminist scholarship across disciplines, phenomenology, and body politics in all forms.
